Meet Jane
Hi, I’m Jane. 🧶
Happy Hookie started the way most cozy things do. Quietly. At a kitchen table, with a cup of tea and a tangle of yarn in my lap. I’d been crocheting for years before I ever called myself a maker. It was the thing I reached for on rainy afternoons, the thing that slowed my shoulders down at the end of a long day. ☕
Somewhere along the way, friends started asking, “can you write that pattern down for me?” So I did. And then I wrote another. And another. Today, Happy Hookie is a little corner of the internet built around one simple idea: that anyone, even someone who has never felt like “a maker,” can sit down on a Saturday morning, follow a few honest steps, and hold something real by Sunday night. 🤍
That’s why I write my crochet patterns the way I do. Not to show off. Not to gatekeep. Just clear, kind, beginner-friendly instructions, the kind I wish someone had handed me when I was starting out. Cottagecore creatures, flower garlands, chubby little gnomes, slow-living blankets, all the cute stuff, made approachable. 🌼
A few things I believe around here: handmade is always worth it. Soft yarn beats fancy yarn. Mistakes are part of the story. And the world could use more things made slowly, with love. 💛
If you’re brand new, start with a beginner pattern and a cup of something warm. If you’ve been hooking for years, there’s plenty here to keep your hands happy too. And if you ever want to say hi, hit reply on one of my emails. I read every single one. ✨
Welcome to the cozy corner. I’m so glad you’re here.
Love,
Jane 🧶
P.S. If you have ever wondered, “could I actually make one of those?”, that is the best reason to start. Pick something small. Brew the tea. Hold something real by Sunday. Browse the patterns whenever you are ready. No rush. 🧶
